in the Zipingpu dam, most likely caused by the May 12 earthquake in We do not know how many Deaf perished in this earthquake but we know that one city in the disaster zone had a Deaf school. Sara McKinney - Lutheran Church Missouri Synod CITY OF PP, CHINA. There is a school for the
blind and deaf children of Mongolia Mike Lutes - Assemblies of God World Missions Thailand Interpreter needed for Thailand missionary conference July, 2009: One of our wonderful Deaf missionaries is in need of a team of interpreters next year. She has already secured one, and is now looking for the second. If you pray about this opportunity, and the Lord says, "yes", please contact us and we will get you in touch with her. The International Mission Board (SBC) Annual General Meeting for the missionaries of the Pacific Rim (PacRim) region is slated for July 8-12, 2009. At the meeting, various activities occur: worship experiences, workshops, meals, one-on-one social/work time. Thank you for the sacrifice of time, money, and service to the Lord when you come my way. Like all volunteers, you’ll be informed to fully pay your way. It is just plain wise to come a few days earlier, and if you like, I invite you to stay longer so you can get to visit the church and other Deaf people. Surely, you’ll get time to do a bit of sightseeing and souvenir-shopping. It is difficult to predict the price of oil next year. Approximate round-trip fare from California is $1,300.00. By the way, if your profession falls in the educational arena, please could you educate in a fun way for the Thai interpreters. It would be like a Skill-Exchange Day, sharing your wide experience involving code of ethics, how you tackle faculty-student problems where both the teachers and the Deaf students are clueless, etc. If I can gather a group, it will also be the platform to testify in a story format of the Lord’s mercy and goodness in your life. There are two universities where a large number of Deaf students go. The location of the meeting is not yet disclosed. However, in the past, it has been in Thailand. The city will not be the same each year. I'm the only Deaf person, and ASL is my preference. If I have previously seen the interpreter in action, the level of certification does not count. May the Lord bless you all and select for me His choice.
