Matula and I traveled to Zilina. We arrived there and went to Gym at school. It was cold in the room with no heater and no lights. There were about 200 Deaf peoples. There were 4 groups from Bratislava, Kosice, Dolny Kubin, & Zilina. They were playing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some Deaf peoples watched the games then went for drinking and came back for watching or talking all the day. There provide beer, whiskey, & coke. Of course, I drank the coke.

I talked to lady. I learned that she is a mother of Ester and husband Stefan as Deaf President. I asked her about Deaf community and Deaf church. She told me that they are not “religious” but her daughter does. Few of Deaf people attend to Deaf Catholic in Banska Bystrica. I told her that I willing teach Bible Storying to them. She doesn’t think that they are interesting to learn about God. But you could visit there.

Matula introduce me to them. I have met some of them before. Deaf American team and I went to visit Deaf Club & Deaf Sport in Kosice. One family thanked to Aric Randolph for sending a box to them with some pictures and something gifts.

Matula introduce me to Deaf President of Deaf Club in Zilina. We talked good. He told me that after volleyball games; everyone will go to Deaf Club for Mikulas at 5 PM. Matula and I went there. The building of Deaf Club has three rooms and the hall. It was so crowd. I chance meet and talked with some of them.

Team of Kosice, Matula, and I leave early like 6 PM for train.

Culture of Mikulas:

During a month of December, the parent tells their kids about good behavior. They remind them that if they do bad behavior then Satan will give a coal to them or if they did good behavior then give them a Christmas gifts. They wait until Mikulas Day. All kids gather at the Deaf Club. Pope, Angels and Satan show up with costumes. At first Satan meet to all kids but some of them are afraid of him. Pope helps them to save from Satan. Then Pope calls each of kids to come to him. All kids tell something then Angel gives some gifts. All kids are happy and open the gifts in the bags.

On December 6^th, all the people wake up and find something small gift in their shoes. Later my Deaf friend told me that you go and see your shoe. I check and found a snack bar in it. He explained about this culture. Interesting!
